Title: Public Administration in Nepal: Past, Present, and Future

         (Lessons for NASC to be prepared for performing future)

  • Dr. Dinesh Pant (Former Executive Director, Nepal Administrative Staff College)

 

Mr. Shakya will enlighten the audience by sharing his succinct experience of public administration when he was serving as Chief Secretary of GoN and Chairperson of the Public Service Commission. His anecdotes and untold stories during his tenure would benefit the audience to gain additional knowledge about Nepal’s public administration. Mr. Shakya will further provide perspective on the status of public administration in Nepal at present. He will provide independent observation on performance culture and quality of Civil staff. In the end, he will provide perspectives on the future of public administration amidst the emerging context of federalism, COVID, and other issues, with brief highlights on challenges ahead, opportunities to harness, and roles of capacity-building institutions like NASC.

 

Dr. Pant will enlighten the audience by sharing his experience as Executive Director of NASC. His anecdotes and untold stories that he gained while serving and leading NASC, where he initiated transformation, would add value to the knowledge of NASC staff. He will also provide a concise assessment of Nepal’s public administration at present and possible future scenarios amidst the emerging context of federalism, COVID, and other issues. He will particularly highlight the roles of NASC to prepare high-performing public administration.
