Social Media

Social Media has become the most used internet service in the present scenario. It has a number of definitions some of them goes as following
“Social Media are primarily Internet based tools for sharing and discussing information among human beings.”
“Social Media is a group of internet-based applications that is built on the ideological and technological foundation of Web 2.0, and that allow the creation and exchange of user generated content.”

Social media is best understood as a group of new kinds of online media, which share most or all of the following characteristics:
Community - Social media allows communities to form quickly and communicate effectively. Communities share common interests, such as a love of photography, a political issue or a favorite TV show.
Though the social media was coined and developed in developed countries, the developing countries like Nepal has been contributing in its use. Social media has been able to bring a new dimension in globalization where anybody can be a social member of the society miles of distance away.  The strength of Social Media is that it is holding a mass of population who will be communicating and interacting.  The dominant use of Social Media is not the ‘only’ use but rather it should be used for development and change.
