The seven days Orientation Program on Management and Development (OPMD) for newly appointed under secretary of Government of Nepal concluded on Chaitra 15, 2078. Sixty-four participants were involved in this training program after their promotion based on seniority and work performance. Executive Director of NASC, Dr. Rajan Khanal, chaired the closing session. Department Head of Public Service Training Department, Mr. Tulasi Sharan Sigdel was present in the session. Center Chief of Center for Induction Training, Mr. Trilochan Poudel hosted the ceremony.
The host of the session, Mr. Poudel highlighted the changed role and responsibility of participants and focused on importance of network formed during the training program. Then he called upon the representatives from each of the groups to reflect their experience on the training.
Ms. Laxmi Devi Sharma from Khaptad group shared her learning experience. She talked about changed role and responsibility at under-secretary level as mid-level manager. She expressed that training was useful from job perspective to gain knowledge in the area of law making process and managing political relationships will be valuable to perform immediately in new role. She also suggested that sessions on procurement management were not sufficient and should be stretched for few more session. Further, she said that session on media handling would be appropriate for their new role.
Similarly, Mr. Baikuntha Gautam from Prithivi group shared his learning experience during the training program. He thanked MoFAGA and NASC for the opportunity. He expressed his commitment to use knowledge gained during the training program for improving service delivery. He also recited a poem on positivity and concluded that after returning to their work place, he will work with positivity and make sure that their will be no grievances from the service recipients.
Then Mr. Tulasi Sharan Sigdel congratulated participants one more time for their promotion and successful completion of training program. He appreciated the knowledge and experience of the participants and said that the group can solve any program themselves if they work on it. He also highlighted that learning is a lifelong and continuous process. He said that civil servants are the face of the government should be mindful in their work and service delivery to maintain the good image of Government of Nepal.
Then Dr. Rajan Khanal distributed certificate to participants after which his speech followed. First, he congratulated participants on successful completion of the training program. He also highlighted that learning is a life long process and it is necessary for survival. He said that the network and platform this training provided will be useful for participants in upcoming days of the work. He also shared example of Eaklavya from Mahabharat and highlighted why learning attitude is important without the necessity of a teacher or institution. He then wished them for the successful tenure ahead in the new role and announced formal closing of the program.
