KYE event on Website Accessibility of Federal Government of Nepal

"The power of the Web is in its universality. Access by everyone regardless of disability is an essential aspect."
-    Tim Berners-Lee
The Federal Government of Nepal's web accessibility was chosen by Annapurna Group of ACMD Rara, a group of technical carders from the Government of Nepal, as their KYE theme. By looking at the websites of the federal government of Nepal and discussing how to make them more accessible, Mr. Pabitra Dangol lucidly presented the meaning, relevancy, and applicability of web accessibility. Although most of the websites have been found to be responsive to users on mobile and tablets, Mr. Dhirendra Napit's comment also brought attention to the fact that most websites managed at the ministry level are not very friendly to web accessibility with high Contrast errors, ARIA errors, and HTML and CSS related errors.
The event's chair, Ms. Manina Baidya, underlined the need of encouraging government ministries to use the Web Content Accessibility Rules (WCAG) guidelines to design and improve their websites.

All of the participants received accolades from Dr. Rajan Khanal, executive director of NASC, for their enthusiasm and commitment to making all of the KYE events great. He underlined the importance of cost reductions for each service seeker individually and exhorted each trainee to focus on cost-cutting measures in their respective service delivery contexts. He continued by summarizing the four KYE events and outlining how the selected topics linked to the economy.

The event's arrangements were overseen by Mr. Suresh Poudel and Mr. Ramesh Kumar Shrestha, while the event's rapporteurs were Mr. Guru Prasad Adhikari and Dr. Prabhu Sah.
