Leadership Development Programme for newly appointed Joint Secretaries begins

The Leadership Development Programme for newly appointed Joint Secretaries (Class-I officers) of the Government of Nepal started on 29 Kartik 2078 at Nepal Administrative Staff College. This program aims to enhance the leadership competencies of the newly appointed Joint Secretaries to enable them to provide quality service to the citizens with a greater degree of professionalism. The nominated officers attended the opening ceremony of the training program with all necessary precautions and safety guidelines issued by the Government of Nepal.

The program was chaired by Dr. Rajan Khanal, Executive Director, Nepal Administrative Staff College, Jawalakhel, Lalitpur. Honourable Minister, Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, Mr. Rajendra Prasad Shrestha attended the program as a special guest. Similarly, Secretary, Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration Mr. Eaknarayan Aryal, Mr. Tulsi Sharan Sigdel, Senior Director of Studies, Public Service Training Department, NASC were present in the program. Mr. Trilochan Poudyal, Center Chief of Center for Induction Training, PSTD hosted the opening program.

            Mr. Sigdel welcomed all participants and highlighted the course outline and objective of the training program. He also requested participants to make the training classes lively with interactions, problem-oriented discussion and sharing of their own work experiences. Similarly, Mr. Aryal, Secretary, Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration welcomed and congratulated all the participants. He focused on the importance of blending of theoretical knowledge with practical knowledge in public service delivery. He further highlighted major challenges and potential ways of overcoming those challenges in reference to the Nepal National Governance Survey, 2017/18 and other surveys. Moreover, he expressed his expectation from newly recruited joint secretaries to upgrade the quality of public service delivery with full dedication and determination.  Honourable Minister Mr. Shrestha also welcomed and congratulate all the participants and expressed his expectation of a supportive and collaborative role from newly recruited joint secretaries in the development of public service delivery and implementation of federalism in Nepal.  Furthermore, he highlighted on the principles and attitudes that must be held by public officials in their professional life. In addition, he focused on the importance of team spirit, up-gradation of knowledge and better use of technology for effective public service delivery.  At last Executive Director of NASC, Dr. Khanal welcomed and congratulate all the participants. He highlighted the core areas of the five-day course. Moreover, he stressed the public expectation in the changing governance system. He further emphasized the role and qualities of a good leader in the public sector. He further centred on the integrity and types of knowledge that a good leader must have in the role of leader in a public organization.  The program is structured on five working days agenda, where two sessions per day will be facilitated, until 03 Mangshir, 2078. The coordinators of the program Mr. Trilochan Poudyal, Dr. Shyan Kirat Rai, Mr. Shailendra Prasad Bhatt and Mr. Damodar Basyal welcomed the participants.
