A discussion on ethics and integrity in the civil service took place today (April 16, 2023) at the Nepal Administrative Staff College (NASC), as part of the ECCA of 36th Basic Administration Training (BAT) program. The program titled "Integrity in Civil Service: Prospectus and Challenges" was organized today in Prithvi Hall for the 2nd residential group (Bagmati, Janaki and Karnali) of the 36th BAT.
The keynote speaker for the program was Dr Rajan Khanal, Executive Director of NASC, who has also served as the secretary for different ministries of the Government of Nepal. Dr Khanal shared his insights on various topics related to integrity, morality, and ethics in the civil service.
During the talk, Dr Khanal emphasized the importance of integrity in the civil service and discussed the challenges that arise when trying to balance integrity with other competing values in the workplace. He also delved into the philosophical underpinnings of integrity, drawing on both Eastern and Western traditions.
The program was well-received by the participants, who appreciated the opportunity to engage with Dr Khanal and explore these critical issues in the civil service. Senior Director of Studies Mr Tulasi Sharan Sigdel, head of Public Service Training Department (PSTD), hosted the program.
