The Nepal Administrative Staff College (NASC) has commenced a capacity-building training programme on Bridge Design for officials of the Department of Roads (DoR), aimed at strengthening technical knowledge and practical skills in bridge design and analysis.
The programme is being conducted by NASC in collaboration with the Bridge Branch of the Department of Roads under the Third Bridges Improvement and Maintenance Program (BIMP-III). The initiative focuses on enhancing the professional capacity of DoR staff involved in bridge design and related engineering activities.
The opening session was attended by Mr. Trilok Nath Ghimire, Senior Divisional Engineer, Bridge Branch, Department of Roads; Mr. Prakash Khatri, Transport Specialist, World Bank; Mr. Yagya Prasad Dhungel, Head, Center for Project Management, NASC; and Mr. Tulasi Sharan Sigdel, Department Head, Governance and Development Learning Group (GDMLG), NASC.
In their opening remarks, the speakers highlighted the importance of continuous professional development, practical learning and the application of modern engineering tools in strengthening the quality and efficiency of bridge design and infrastructure development.
The training has been designed with a strong emphasis on practical and application-oriented learning. The overall arrangement comprises four training phases, with 23 participants in each cohort.
