A three-day negotiation skills training for officials of public organizations, organized by the Center for Organization Development (COD),concluded today (Asoj 22). The closing ceremony was attended by Officiating Executive Director Mr. Basanta Raj Sigdel and COD Center Head Dr. Raghu Bista.
Speaking on behalf of all participants, Ms. Rejina Bhattarai shared her overall experience of the training. She said she had previously relied mostly on advocacy in her life, but would now try to balance inquiry with disclosure. She also stressed the value of the 7-element framework in negotiation and found the simulation exercises helpful. In addition, she said the experience shared by former Executive Director Dr. Rajan Khanal offered useful insight into bilateral negotiation, and she also highlighted the logical coordination of the session used throughout the training.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Sigdel congratulated the participants on completing the training. He said NASC had only lit the spark of learning about negotiation, and that the curiosity it created should drive participants to gain deeper knowledge. He described negotiation as a part and a way of life and underlined the importance of communication and values in decision making.
A total of 14 participants from various public organizations graduated at the ceremony.
