Centre for Human Resource Management (CHRM) within the Management Learning Group (MLG) of the Nepal Administrative Staff College (NASC) has commenced a 4-day training of trainers (ToT) program on Training Management and Facilitation Skills in collaboration with Karnali Province Training Academy (KPTA) on 21st November 2023 at Suva Hotel, Birendranagar, Surkhet. The program is supported by European Union Support to Inclusive Federalism (EUSIF) implemented by UNDP. The program, tailored for officials from various public and private institutions, has been meticulously designed for officers who serve as trainers or are responsible for conducting and facilitating sessions within their workplace. Mr. Binod Kumar Bista, Senior Director of Studies at NASC, chaired the opening event. Mr. Shankar Bahadur KC, Secretary, Office of Chief Minister and Council of Ministers, Karnali Province, was the chief guest of the program.
Mr. Nabin Chapagain, Director of Studies at NASC, welcomed the participants and highlighted the training's context, need, design and learning approaches. He emphasized NASC's commitment to enhancing in-house trainers' facilitation and training management skills across various institutions. He noted the profound relevance of the selected training sessions within the broader training cycle, highlighting their pivotal role in augmenting the professional capabilities of the participants. He emphasized that the primary goal of the training is to ensure effective learning transfer.
Following Mr. Chapagain's insights, Mr. KC highlighted the importance of Training of Trainers (ToT) for individuals aspiring to become competent trainers. He expressed his expectations for participants to emerge as successful trainers and advised facilitators to place as many practicum sessions in the training as possible to enhance participants' competence.
Mr. Bista, in his opening remarks, provided a detailed overview of NASC's role and initiatives. He shared the genesis of the program, particularly its initiation at the provincial level. He mentioned that NASC successfully conducted similar ToT programs in four provinces last year and has planned to organize in the remaining three provinces this year, thereby capacitating officials at the provincial level. Mr. Bista highlighted the program's focus on skill-building, with sessions intricately linked. Additionally, Mr. Bista expressed sincere gratitude towards the collaborating organizations, acknowledging their relentless support as a critical factor in transforming this initiative into a reality. Mr. Yubraj Neupane hosted the program.
